
Founded in 1936 (Showa 11), we successfully developed Japan’s first mounted grinding wheel.
Building on many years of accumulated expertise since then, we have continuously aimed for the highest quality in manufacturing grinding wheels and diamond tools.
Our products are widely used across a broad range of manufacturing industries, including major automotive manufacturers.
1936 | Founder Yutaro Takai established the company’s predecessor, Takai Shoko, in Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Began manufacturing Japan’s first mounted grinding wheels. |

1941 | Renamed to Keihin Seitosho. |
1944 | Renamed to the current name, Keihin Kogyo Co., Ltd. Started manufacturing diamond tools. |
1946 | Established the Grinding Wheel Research Institute to improve product quality. |
1955 | Became the first factory in the industry authorized to display the JIS mark (No. 4337). |
1957 | Successfully exported grinding wheel production plant to India and provided technical assistance. |
1961 | Completed a groundbreaking kiln based on in-house technology. |
1962 | Began manufacturing of resin-bonded grinding wheels. |
1963 | Established the Shizuoka Manufacturing Plant and relocated the Grinding Wheel Research Institute to Mori-machi, Shizuoka Prefecture. |
1964 | Opened Shizuoka Sales Office in Mori-machi, Shizuoka Prefecture. |
1970 | Opened Tochigi Sales Office in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture. |
1972 | Opened Yamagata Sales Office in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. |
1979 | Completed Yamagata Manufacturing Plant in Tendo City, Yamagata Prefecture. |
1984 | Started manufacturing diamond tools at Yamagata Manufacturing Plant. |
1993 | Completed construction of Headquarters building. |
1997 | Added fully automatic kiln dedicated to QB (ceramic) grinding wheels at Shizuoka Manufacturing Plant. |
2006 | Obtained ISO 9001 certification. |
2007 | Expanded Headquarters with a second manufacturing plant. |
2012 | Expanded Headquarters with a third manufacturing plant. |
2014 | Selected as one of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “300 Vibrant Small and Medium Enterprises.” Received multiple certifications and support for advanced strategic foundational technologies and innovative manufacturing. |
2016 | Launched ultra-porous grinding wheels with triple grinding efficiency (allowing triple depth of cut). Added kiln at Shizuoka Manufacturing Plant. |
2017 | Developed low-friction soft metal diamond grinding wheels. |
2018 | Relocated Tochigi Sales Office to Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. |
2019 | Added kiln at Shizuoka Manufacturing Plant. |
2022 | Constructed new building at Yamagata Manufacturing Plant. |
2024 | Relocated second manufacturing plant at Headquarters. |
